Alex Corretja and Albert Costa have carried out their
threatened boycott of Wimbledon and withdrawn from the event. The third member
of the Spanish boycott trio, Juan Carlos Ferrero, had already withdrawn with a
back injury.
More fool them is all I can say. If they wanted to
show Wimbledon that they deserved to be seeding because of their world rankings
then they should have turned up and won some matches.
Seems to me they are afraid of losing in the first
round and looking silly. Their places in the draw have been filled by two lucky
losers from the qualifying draw, both of whom will show Wimbledon the respect
it deserves by turning up and playing their matches.
